Ancient devices that have the ability to hold back the Gods from directly interacting with the material plane.

The Ancient Pillars

Incidentally there were around 50, known as these towers were scattered around the entire plant and powered something called the Skyfall Ward. Over time, and through the efforts of The Ashen Cult, these pillars slowly weakened allowing Ignatius to interact with the material plane, during an event known as The Sundering.

The New Towers

Sometime after The Sundering a meteor crashed into an area of the Verdant Peninsula, now known as The All-Father Temple. Within the massive creator created by this meteor, were 1000s of power crystals humming with powerful energies. Soon after the meteor landed, Niaross † appeared and used these crystals to create much more powerful set of towers. that work in tandem with the ancient pillars to uphold the Skyfall Ward.

These new towers are much more powerful than the old ones in part due each one being powered by the tentacles of Terathra. Because the new towers are slowly sucking away all of his power, these towers are actually slowly killing him. This fact pained Niaross † greatly as she was personal friends with Terathra, but it was the only way she could keep the ward active.

Other Information

It is assumed that The Auditors have some hand in helping maintain or protect the towers due to their primary purpose being to combat the influence of The Ashen Pantheon on the material plane, however this is unconfirmed.
