Overview

Ignatius is a living furnace of war and will, encased in Crimson and gold armor that pulses with inner fire. Towering and wrathful, he is the embodiment of conflict Forged into purpose - not chaos, but cleansing flame. His sword is a roaring truth, and his presence demands Action, forcing the world to choose between fear and Defiance. He does not rest, for the battle never truly Ends.

General Information

He is famously worshipped by The Ashen Cult (known in the modern day as The Red Cult), which was led by High Priest Lyrion, he was brought into the world and immediately started to make preparations to begin war. This included making the Firesoul Greatsword, which could reduce anyone it slashed to ash and reform them as part of the Ash Spawn army.

It is said in The Sundering - As told by The Ashen Cult that Ember Peak, are large volcano found in The Desert was "as a conduit to Ignatius. Its molten heart pulsed with the essence of their god, and its fiery eruptions were seen as omens of his imminent return."

Divine Attributes

Mythos & Legends

Ignatius, god of Fire, Wrath, and Rebirth, is worshipped And feared as the embodiment of divine flame-at once Destroyer and purifier. Where others see fire as chaos ,Ignatius sees sacred purpose: to burn away the rot of The old so that something greater may rise from the Ashes. His arrival in the mortal realm is not considered A descent, but an eruption-an inevitable blaze foretold In smoke and scripture.

The Prophecy of the Cleansing Flame, whispered Through generations by the Ashen Cult, foretold his Coming. It spoke of a god who would descend not in Mercy, but in judgment, wielding fire to purge Corruption and sin. The prophecy came to pass with the Shattering of the Skyfall Ward, a divine barrier once Shielding the mortal realm from direct godly Intervention. When it broke, the world trembled, and Ignatius walked through.

This marked the beginning of the Sundering, a Cataclysm that scorched the Amber Realms. With Legions of Ash Spawn and fire-wreathed zealots at his Side, Ignatius razed entire kingdoms in his wake, Leaving behind only smouldering ruins. The coalition of Mortal defenders-heroes, mages, and god-touched Champions-fought back against the inferno, Culminating in the Siege of Dawnhaven. There, they Succeeded in halting his advance, but not in ending him.

As his physical form crumbled, Ignatius declared his Divine truth: that fire cannot die. He vowed to return, not In vengeance, but to finish what was begun. His Followers, the Ashen Cult, still carry this flame spreading His doctrine, branding his mark into the World, and waiting for the hour when the embers Reignite and the purification begins anew.

To revere Ignatius is to accept that pain births strength, And that destruction may be a mercy. In every wildfire, Every volcano's roar, his voice can still be heard reminding The world that its end may yet be its Beginning.

Worship & Rituals

The Ritual OF Flame

This ritual, central to the Ashen Cult, involves offerings Of personal sacrifices-be they material possessions or The lives of willing devotees. Participants believe that by Embracing Ignatius's purifying fire, they are cleansed of Their sins and reborn as agents of his will.

The Ember Vigil

Held annually at Ember Peak, this gathering of Followers includes sermons by the cult's leaders and Ceremonies invoking Ignatius's name. It is a night of Fiery displays, prayers, and oaths of loyalty to the Cleansing Flame.

The Scorched Pledge

Devotees inscribe sacred symbols onto their skin using Heated brands, signifying their unyielding dedication to Ignatius. These marks, known as the Seals of Purification, are considered signs of divine favour.

Artifacts & Relics

The Firesoul Greatsword

Forged from the molten minerals of Ember Peak, this Enchanted weapon consumes its victims in fire, Transforming them into Ash Spawn to serve Ignatius's Army.

The Heart Of Ember Peak

A shard of pure volcanic power said to contain Ignatius's essence, capable of devastating entire regions If unleashed.

The Ashen Crown

A relic worn by his high priests, granting visions of Ignatius's will and the ability to summon minor fire Elementals.

What Faith Means to the Moderates

The moderates of the faction believe Ignatius will come down and wipe away the bad and give way for good just without so much senseless pain or killing. The priest gives the example of the Grayfall Empire and the humans, the Dwarves were all slave owners and treated everyone horribly. The humans, led by Redmund Verix † rose using violence to earn their freedom. e.i. a bad system was replaced by a better one. Another example is the OFC, there is a large war with humungous loss of life on both sides and yet the OFC is a pillar of freedom and equality.

What Faith Means to the Extremists

The extremists believe that Ignatius will come down to destroy all evil in the world and make way for good to take its place. This often comes in the form of mass slaughter and destruction.

History & Mentions

§ Interactions
Session 48 Seifer was a powerful and talented general in the army of Ignatius during the Sundering. During one of the most climactic battles, she sacrificed herself and was promoted to Herald status. She was responsible for the torching of Emberfall.
Session 48 Looking up, Viktor exclaimed, "Congratulations, you have the herald of Ignatius in your head!"
Session 48 "I promise it has nothing to do with Ignatius," she continued. I don't want him back any more than you do now."
Session 43 Mordecai suggested they all try tailing someone who was a part of the goblin mafia to see if he would lead them to the pub. Drache asked if that would be wise, as it would be very obvious if a group of 5 were following one goblin around Siltwater Slums of Lost Haven. Halfbie suggested they take turns tailing the goblin while the rest stayed back, and they could then swap out at various points to keep suspicions low. They agreed this was the best plan and soon found a goblin that fit the typical archetype for the mafia and began tailing them. Drache was the first to tail them and followed the goblin to the church of Ignatius, where the goblin finally spotted him. Halfbie took over and followed the goblin who walked around Siltwater Slums for a while, almost as if they were patrolling. Halfbie was soon caught, and Mordecai took over and followed the goblin to a wooden gate, where the goblin paid two platinum coins to the guard, who let him through. As the goblin walked through, he spotted Mordecai but did nothing about them.
Session 42 Once the sermon ended, the priest approached them, remembering their conversation from the day before and asked if the food they were given was good. They thanked him, saying it was lovely. Now that they were closer, Halfbie began looking for any branding on the man that would have come from The Scorched Pledge as a way to check if this priest was the real deal. Unfortunately, there weren't many marks apart from his slave number being scorched into his chest.
Session 42 Mordecai asked the priest if he was aware he was being watched, and the priest exclaimed he was more than aware, saying, "You look at me cconfused. You assume that because they're guards, they're not also part of a system? You assume that just because they're guards, their draw to Ignatius is less?"
Session 42 Mordecai became even more confused as Halfbie explained that just because someone benefited from a system doesn't mean they enjoyed said system. The priest added that none of the guards got any of the money made by the slaves, and most became guards because the alternative was being one of the slaves. There are many followers of Ignatius across many levels in society," said the priest with reverence.
Session 42 When Mordecai asked if removing the antimagic field would benefit Ignatius, the priest said it might, but it wouldn't be worth the loss of life during a rebellion when they could just wait for Ignatius to come save them.
Session 41 The building was relatively clean and mostly empty apart from a few ancient-looking pews. The priest came over to greet them. To their surprise, the priest carried the symbol of Ignatius on his robes and altar.
Session 41 Seeing everyone's confusion, Korrigan stated, "I mean, say what you want about Ignatius, but to the people here, he was a chance of change, of cleansing this place of what it is."
Session 41 With a kind smile, the priest ushered them to some nearby pews, welcomed them to his church, and hoped that none of them had been whipped too hard today. He then asked if they knew much about Ignatius. Mordecai explained that a lot more than the average person. The priest was elated and asked if they knew of the Sundering. And was even more elated when the answer was yes. "That's good, good, you've heard the old stories then. And I'm sure you see my filth out there," he said.
Session 41 He explained that Ignatius offers change and that the next Sundering will wipe the world of all its sins and free the salve around them of their suffering. Mordecai countered by saying that he would wipe everything clean and leave nothing but the Ash Spawn.
Session 41 "See, that's the interesting thing, my dear. Who do you think wrote all the modern texts on the Sundering? Do you think it was us? Do you think it was the poor and pitiless? Do you think it was the followers of Ignatius?" the priest countered, "Or do you think it was the rich? Do you think it was those who didn't want it to happen again? Those that perhaps had a vested interest in keeping the status quo?"
Session 41 Halfbie spoke up and explained that he had read those books, but the one they mentioned earlier was actually written by a priest of Ignatius. "It does paint the picture, obviously, in a more positive way, but it still comes across as an unrelenting wave where everyone is turned to Ash Spawn"
Session 35 Kaelis Ignithar began to rant about how kids these days had no clue about the magic they so casually wielded and wouldn't recognize true talent even if it hit them in the face. He was adamant that he was the best mage in the history of mages and claimed he could even defeat Ignatius if he tried. To the party's relief, Kaelis clarified that he wasn't related to Ebis Daro and was offended by the suggestion that he might worship a god he considered weaker than himself.
Session 31 The headmaster went silent for a moment before revealing that Ebis Daro used to be a lecturer at Strixhaven before being thrown out for being a shapeshifter and his fanatical worship of Ignatius (Sacrificing students). The headteacher explained that Ebis Daro was trying to make his own Ash Spawn army with all the sacrifices he was making. However, Haldir Heleyarus refused to elaborate beyond this. instead, The Party asked about the crystals and making more towers.
Session 30 Korrigan ends the connection between him and Terathra and returns to the cavern. In a slight daze, they return to face Malin, who stands to the side with his head bowed respectfully. Halfbie awkwardly asks if this is when Malin wants to do it, and if so, does he have a way he wants to go? Malin says that he doesn't really care as long as it is painless and soon, so he won't have to deal with the fiery explosions that come with Ignatius' return. Drache is confused, wondering why he would want to die now as surely he would be sent straight to Ignatius, who was bound to be furious with the priest.
Session 30 Although Ignatius is the God of Fire and Cleansing, he is also the God of Violence and War. When his soldiers and followers die, their souls get sent to Ignatius's eternal battlefield, where they fight a myriad of monsters, demons and beasts. Moderates who had given up on war go to the same place but are put in a separate area, which is covered in fire, and people are in great pain. Ignatius is the general of his army and is too busy to come to see the moderates, so it is believed that even though the existence will be painful, it will be peaceful. Halfbie whispers to Korrigan, wondering if it might be better to Kill Malin with Ice magic so he won't be as affected by the fire in the bad place. Korrigan didn't respond.
Session 30 Korrigan asks if they do kill him, will they be hunted down for his death? Malin explains that this room is rarely used and is not known to many people. Additionally, many of the staff do not enter the different rooms dedicated to the Gods; they would not know he was dead for many weeks or even months. After Korrigan asked, he confirmed that the number of people, excluding The Party, who knew of this room could be counted on one hand. Without a moment's hesitation, Korrigan drew his bow and shot Malin in the head. The arrow buried deep in the priest's eye, threatening to come out the other side. Malin crumpled to the floor, dead instantly. Korrigan explained to the shocked members of his party that killing him now would ensure that no one related to Ignatius would ever be able to find out about The Tower and would serve to buy them time. They admitted he had a point, but Drache and Aidan were annoyed that none were given a say.
Session 29 Contemplating the leaflet, the party continued their journey towards the All-father Temple. With such fiery motifs, Korrigan couldn’t help but draw comparisons with the group and the cult of Ignatius and asked Seifer Willow if she knew anything about this brotherhood through Mord. However, she was less than helpful - claiming that she had never heard of them before. Unconvinced, Korrigan kept pressing her for information, asking her very bluntly how she died. This provoked outrage from the dead woman in Mordecai’s head, demanding that Mord should kill him on the spot for such insensitivity and rudeness. Naturally, Mord refused, a little tired of the constant desperation of the woman’s violence towards his party members.
Session 29 Outside, Mordecai took a deep breath as they mentally prepared to enter Ignatius' room. Questioning out loud if this was really the correct thing to do. Drache suggested that I couldn't hurt to ask, worst case, they could all step in to help if it came to that. Slightly reassured, they all entered the room. Malin was sitting near the altar reading as they all entered. He greeted them warmly, asking if there was anything he could do to help. Mordecai dodged around the subject as they asked if Malin knew of someone called Seifer Willow ‡ during The Sundering. Malin explained that he knew of her when they both fought in the war and explained that she was a great general who gave her life to destroy an entire army Battalion. He explained that in some circles, she is regarded as almost a sudo Herald.
Session 27 Halfbie asks why drache isn't smart or doesn't have a hoard if they're Dragonborn. Korrigan reasons this is because he is only half dragon, and those traits must've been lost a while ago. Drache was about to take offence to this before realising that it was probably true. While this conversation continues, the voice in Mordecai's head says they could quickly get rid of the dragon and this stupid Dragonborn. Grabbing their head, Mordecai shouts out loud for the voice to get out of their head. The voice says they'll be quiet for now. Halfbie offers to cast Identify on the crown so they can figure out what is going on. Mordecai reveals he knows exactly what is happening, and Halfbie would have no chance of knowing since their memory is terrible. The Eldarin looks quite hurt by this but doesn't say anything. Mordecai explains what they saw when they touched the crown and that they were very reminiscent of the vision and ideals belonging to Ignatius. They explain that while they don't agree with everything God says, some of it hits a cord with them, and they have been thinking about it for a while now. This crown might be an artefact of Ignatius.
Session 27 Drache steps back and nervously says they absolutely cannot be here and should bury the crown and leave as soon as possible. Korrigan stands in front of Mordecai and asks them what about the teachings of Ignatius they like and points out how these 'cleansing flames' killed their mother and burned their house to the ground. Before they can finish the sentence, Mordecai slaps him. Korrigan sees the slap coming and lets it land, never breaking eye contact with the Teifling. Suddenly the damn broke, and korrigan started shouting that Mordecai had watched them all slowly become puppets of the gods and was meant to remain free of all that. Mordecai fires back, saying everyone, even the gods, has abandoned them. This power would allow them to clean the slate and start fresh finally. Korrigan's eyes narrowed as he said, "Do you know why the smartest people end up working for the worst people? It's because they are better at rationalising the wrong things they do". Korrigan lets Mordecai through to get to the crown before saying that Mordecai was the one who taught him that. Mordecai begins to say something before the voice in their head speaks again, saying that their power can make everything ok again. Mordecai grabs their head again, shouting and screaming for the voice to get out of their head. They begin to break down as they exclaim how alone they are and want to be loved.
Session 27 Drache opens the door a little further and finds that the red cloaks don't have bodies; they are just large motes of flames. Many more floating flames were hovering around the room, keeping it bright. The Firesoul Greatsword was floating a few feet off the ground in the middle. Mordecai is highly tempted to grab the blade as the voice tells them to claim their prize. Mordecai resists the urea but becomes irritated when the voice mocks him for not figuring out who they're being possessed by. Korrigan says "Hi Ebis" on a whim to the voice. The voice laughs as it exclaims that she is way better than that pretender. Halfbie asks if the voice is High Priest Lyrion; she says she is much better than that fool, saying, "They are nought but a twinkle in my eye". The voice begins to tease them that being in Mordecai's mind is very fun as they get to know so much about his past, including that letter to their father and Claribelle's death. Mordecai tells the voice to get out of their head that they don't need an army and they don't need any help. The voice laughs manically as they explain that all of their efforts are pitiful compared to the power of Ignatius. Mordecai was also told not to worry about it, as although they can't control Mordecai's body yet, soon they will, and it won't matter.
Session 27 Korrigan whispers to Drache and asks if they can quickly cast Detect Good and Evil and see what they learn. Drache does just then and, to his horror, detects a considerable amount of undead energy emanating from Mordecai. Drache hurriedly explains what he feels to Korrigan, who claims he'll cast his protection spell on Mordecai so they can ensure that Mordecai does not lose control over his body. The voice retorts that if they do that, they will make sure that when she leaves, she will make sure there will be nothing left of Mordecai's brain to function. Suddenly, it clicks with Halfbie. Ignatius doesn't have any family, but they did recall that in The Sundering - As told by The Ashen Cult, there was a female war general called Seifer Willow ‡. Willow confirms that Halfbie is correct and says that if they've read their bible, they know what can happen when too much of Ignatius' power is channelled through someone, and she can do that if anyone makes any wrong moves.
Session 26 The temple is huge and made of white marble with magical crystals and bubbles floating around the large building. There is a small town located around the temple. Inside there are people in similar white robes likes in the towers. Before going in, Chenris pulls Mordecai aside and tells him not to mention their involvement with the gods this time, since he would like to look around. Mordecai sheepishly agrees to stay quiet. Chenris talks to the receptionist and pretends not to know who the all-father is. The receptionist is very accommodating and would love to answer questions about the gods. In this temple, they worship all of the Gods, especially Aetherion. Curious, Korrigan asks about their opinions on the Heralds. They say they like the heralds of gods who are seen as peace-loving and kind like Seraphina however, the heralds associated with gods like Ignatius often come to death's destruction so they would be hesitant to invite this in.
Session 26 The priest notes he must have a grudge and he will see what he can do and they say farewell. Korrigan exists in his room just as the others are leaving their room and Korrigan is left stunned and confused as to why people would want to talk to the followers of Ignatius. They catch each other up on what they see.
Session 26 Mordecai and Chenris decide to see what the priest of Ignatius is like. This room is full of fire brazers, torches and other flame iconography. They find the priest waiting for them and gives them a warm greeting. Mordecai asks if he sees many visitors. He explains that he doesn't get a lot from The Dawn Empire but he does get a handful from Ehobel, the OFC. Uvam Dynasty, the islands to the northeast and lot from The Desert. He assumes The Sundering is a bit too fresh in the minds of the humans.
Session 26 Chenris enquires about his opinions on The Sundering. The priest explains he was not a fan of the huge lose of life that the event caused. The priest elaborates, saying every God has their fanatics and extremists. Even the worshipers of Seraphina have been known to use her name in vain and commit atrocities. Fortunately. There are moderates for every faith, including Ignatius. For example, the extremists believe that Ignatius will come down to destroy all evil in the world and make way for good to come take its place. This often comes in the form of mass slaughter and destruction. The moderates of the faction believe Ignatius will come down and wipe away the bad and give way for good just without so much senseless pain or killing. Another example is the OFC, there is a large war with humungous loss of life on both sides and yet the OFC is a pillar of freedom and equality.
Session 26 Chenris then ask what would the followers of Ignatius do in a theoretically perfect society, surely there would be no need to worship their beloved god since there is no evil to be wiped away. This question stumps the priest as he had never thought of that before, he doesn't have an answer. Chenris is about to leave when stops to ask one final question, "Do you know anything about one master Ebis?" the priest had heard the name but only as someone leading a magic guild somewhere. Mordecai asks if he knows anything about the grand plan. The priest hesitates before explaining, that the grand plan is often about how The Ashen Cult wants to start The Second Sundering. At this point the priest wants to confess that he was a general in the original army and led a legion of Ash Spawn, however, he feels immense guilt for his actions and is trying to reform, his name is Malin. They thank him for his time and leave.

Session 18 Clearly exhausted from all the conflicting emotions he had been feeling today eventually falls into a deep Trance leaving Aidan and Obeus to watch. Aidan asks Obeus about deals with Gods. She Confesses that she isn't very familiar with them, she just knows they're not a good idea. Aidan says its a bit too late for that and asks if Gods have been known to grant people power in return for deals. She sighs and explains that the Gods have been known to do this and explains that there was legend of even Ignatius giving special powers to some kind of high priest back during The Sundering. Aidan reveals he made a deal with Chronovorus. Obeus advises that too much of a Gods influence can be "ill advised". The rest of the watch goes unhindered.
Session 17 She asks where they got this book since it is quite heretical to own a piece of material that looks at Ignatius in such a good light and the two, slightly panicked explain that they found it in an Ancient Dwarven Stronghold under Steelwick surrounded by flames of an exploded researcher. She notes that that is how most followers of Ignatius tend to operate (referencing Seifer Willow ‡) leading Mordecai to talk about the man that exploded outside the airship and asking about The Red Cult. Unfortunately, she has no idea what either of them.
Session 15 Ebis Daro appears before Mordecai again and says, "Thank you, you've done an amazing job for Ignatius" before disappearing. Mordecai, now angry, storms to the window, jumps out, and climbs down, flipping off Chenris in the process. Chenris doesn't notice and jumps out he window and Misty Step safely to the ground.
Session 02 The party are quickly swept off their feet by Caden SteelBreaker † and were told to come with him to the site of an airship crash, they travelled half a day away to find a crashed airship in flames, upon investigation kal notices some of the soldiers on board the airship had fake OFC uniform, they found a survivor which attacked them as soon as they noticed his fake uniform. The party take the survivor out of the airship and the guards kill them immediately due to being a threat to Caden. The party noticed it was an inside job. Outside the airship after investigating, a survivor the party missed walks out and up to cayden. As soon as the party notice the faulty uniform they go to intervene but the survivor yelled "FOR Ignatius" and exploded in a fiery explosion. The party was injured and cayden was thrown against a tree, he seemed to be alive though unconscious but then the party was interrupted by a piercing roar and a wyvern descended onto the battle field. During the battle , Caden was killed due to a tree falling on. Xekai was later revealed to be behind this murder.
