Saga: 8th Saga - Gutenous Guardians
Attendance: Sam Gallon,Rowan Hales,Tom Brothers,Caleb Hamlet,Jae Knight

Session Summary

The session begins with the party discovering Denola brutally murdered, only for Viktor to determine that a precise stab to the head killed her before being mutilated post-mortem. He successfully resurrects her, though she remembers nothing of her killer. During the confusion, Halfbie, already doubting their connection to the group due to missing memories, uses the distraction to escape. Seeking answers, they visit Terence Witherfeather, who investigates their mind and confirms that all memories of the party are completely absent. A chaotic attempt to “fix” this with blunt force fails, but an illusion convinces Halfbie of a false version of their companions. After leaving, Halfbie encounters Agolin Winterbor and Alfred Go Fish, leading to a surreal, drug-fuelled journey into an underwater city of mind flayers. There, a psychic intrusion restores fragments of the truth: Mordecai, Viktor, Drache, and Aidan are their real party. However, they awaken to find themselves robbed and alone, forced to improvise and escape in disguise.

Meanwhile, the rest of the party splits up: Mordecai infiltrates Greg’s Bakery to investigate the prophetic bread tied to Denola’s death, while Viktor and Drache search for Halfbie and tend to the deteriorating Cas, discovering she is dying due to a lack of an immune system. Mordecai uncovers the horrifying truth through Detect Thoughts: Chef Greg murdered Denola, and narrowly escapes when the staff turn hostile. Elsewhere, Viktor and Drache’s attempt to bring Cas near a magic-suppressing tower goes disastrously wrong when Myst, overwhelmed by its influence, destroys the tower entirely, unleashing chaos. The party is suddenly reunited through magical portals and confronted by Haldir, who reveals he is dying and demands one of the New God eggs to sustain himself. Despite moral resistance, Chenris calculates the odds and seizes control, forcing the decision. A child is born from the egg and, in a cold act of logic, Chenris kills it instantly to fulfil the deal. As the body is taken through a portal, the party is left in heavy silence, burdened by the cost of their choice.

Full Session Notes

Seeing Denola 's body lying on the floor, the party rushed over to her side. She had been stabbed in the back of the head as well as being gutted. Viktor performed a quick examination and found the stab wound to the back of the head was the cause of death. The wound on her stomach was done post partum. Viktor healed the majority of her wounds before using his magic to resurrect her. She awoke with a blood-curdling scream as her soul was returned to her body. Viktor tried his best to calm her down as the party all introduced themselves to her. Once she had calmed down, she explained that she had no idea who her killer could be. At one moment she was walking down the street; at another, it was dark; then she opened her eyes, and the party were all there.

Halfbie, who had been watching the slight from the rest of the party, began having doubts that staying with them would be a good idea. From their perspective, Halfbie had woken up to a group of strangers who claimed that they were his party, but they were pretty sure this wasn't true. When the rest of the group was talking to Denola and explaining the prophetic bread to her, Halfbie took the opportunity and pointed at the Greg's Bakery and shouted, "What are they doing?" before using their Misty Step ability to appear near a street corner before dashing around. When the party returned their gaze to Halfbie, they had disappeared.

Now separated. Halfbie made their way to the Mage's Guild. The receptionist looked up when they walked in, but their customer service smile instantly faded when they saw Halfbie enter the building. Halfbie gave them a friendly wave before making their way to Terence Witherfeather 's office, explaining that they knew the way. The receptionist returned to reading her book, unwilling to get involved with The Party 's antics. Halfbie got to the office, politely knocked on the door, and entered once they heard Terence invite them in.

Halfbie explained that they seemed to be having memory issues and were unable to remember who their real party were and that there seemed to be a fake party claiming to be their real party. Terence sat on his desk, stroking his beard as he thought through some potential solutions. After some time, he suddenly sprang to life and grabbed some papers as he tried to remember the spell he needed. Once he had, he asked Halfbie to take a seat before he started massaging their temples. "Ahh, my boy, you seem to have a lot of information in here... oh hello there Chenris!"

Sitting in his https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Method_of_loci was https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dewey_Decimal_Classification. Back in the real world, Terence explained, with a glum look, that unfortunately there were no memories of the party in their head; it was like those memories never existed. "Not to worry, my boy, I do have another trick up my sleeve!") (x::But before Halfbie could ask what it was, Terence picked up a heavy book and brought it down on Halfbie's head. The boy yelped in pain and asked why they suddenly got hit. Terence did answer, instead asking if they remembered anything. Halfbie said they didn't, but maybe it would work if they got his again. Terence didn't hesitate and brought the book down on their head again. Halfbie still didn't remember anything: "OWW, hmmm nothing yet... all the best things come in threes. Try one last time please". When the third attempt failed, Terence took a step back and apologised for not being able to help. Halfbie turned to the wizard and asked if he at least remembered their party. He said he was struggling to remember, so Halfbie offered to hit him with a book. it 'worked' and Terence used a Minor Illusion to recreate his memory of the party. A Harengon (Drache), a Goblin with a hood (Aiden Knight), a flamboyant Kenku and a large cow (Viktor).

halfbie studied the illusion for a long time before looking back to the wizard, thanking him for all his help. In this moment Halfbie truly believed that that illusion was their party. They thanked Terence before leaving. Just as they were about to leave the building, their curiosity got the better of them, and they went to see Agolin Winterbor. When they got to the basement, the floor was flooded to mid-shin level, and every other room had been abandoned, presumably due to the constant flooding.

Inside Halfbie found Agolin Winterbor and Go Fish. Both were sitting at a table with a deck of cards, sharing a large bong. In the centre of the room, a portal opened onto what looked like the ocean. Agolin Winterbor greeted Halfbie and Halfbie politely returned it. Halfbie gestured to the fish, saying hi, and commented on how long it had been.

"you remember Go Fish, my old...friend?" "Yes... everyone tried to tell me they weren't real!" "Oh, he's real alright... you'll never guess where his flipper is right now") (x::Halfbie pulled up a soaked chair and sat at the table, intending to get dealt into the game again, claiming confidently that this wasn't their first time playing, so they shouldn't hold back. Winterbor clicked his fingers and the bong grew another neck that extended its way to Halfbie. When asked what it was, Winterbor stated that it was a gift for their anniversary. Halfbie congratulated them on the anniversary before taking a big hit of the bong. The drugs hit almost immediately. Halfbie was suddenly flying through the air with Go fish. The fish grabbed Halfbie] ] 's hand, leading them towards the ocean. commenting how it was such a magical world that they all lived in. Halfbie asked if they went by ' Fish' or if they had another name that they preferred to go by instead. The fish explained that his first name was Alfred.

Alfred claimed that he had something to show Halfbie as they dove into the ocean. Breaking the surface of the water was painless as Halfbie floated, too high to really move but enjoying the sensation of weightless floating. Suddenly, there was a sharp, stabbing pain on their neck as they quickly began growing gills. They took a deep breath as they acclimated to their abilities. Alfred suddenly appeared in front of them, taking their hand and leading them deeper and deeper into the ocean.) (x:: "Make sure you don't drink any of the water I just did a massive pissss" "Don't worry, I already know not to eat yellow snow"

As they continued their journey, they slowly reached the ocean floor, where buildings stood like a mini city.) (x::Still leading them gently by hand, Alfread navigated the underwater city before arriving at what seemed to be an underwater palace. For a silent moment, Halfbie thought that the city had been abandoned; this was before a hoard of Mindflayers spilt out of the palace and aswarmed both of them. The hoard guided them through the palace, which looked almost like a human one, to the bottom of the ocean, where coral imitations had replaced odd objects and artefacts.

Halfbie was led to the bed where a mindflayer gently touched their fingers to their temples. There was a moment when nothing moved, and then, suddenly, a flurry of information was vomited into their consciousness. They saw brief flashed of humans chatting over what seemed to be some notice board. Each memo felt almost like a portal into another person's space. A wizard had potentially cast a spell on the notice board that allowed it to speak and make notices, and those shown on the memos began throwing small rocks and chatting about, presumably, a war campaign.

Amongst all of the visions shown to Halfbie, one thing rose to the surface: Mordecai, Drache, Viktor, and Aidan were members of their real party. Eventually the information became too much and Halfbie collapsed.) (x::When Halfbie woke up, they were still in Winterbor's room; however, everything but their spell book had been stolen, including the clothes off their back. Judging by the sun's position in the sky, Halfbie had been unconscious for a few hours at most. Looking around the room, there was nothing but a pack of playing cards that their intuition told them not to touch.

Their priority was to find something to wear so they wouldn't be arrested. Going into the the basment corridor, every other room had been abandoned and moved out off meaning the only piece of clothing they could find was and increaibly short black mini dress. Moving along, they climbed the stairs and managed to sneak past the receptionist without being noticed. Silently, they made their way upstairs to Terence's room.

At the door, they slowly opened it, but the door made a loud creak that seemed to stir the old wizard awake. The curtains had been drawn, making the room incredibly dark and concealing halfbie's identity. Terence, upon seeing someone with long hair and a short mini-dress walk into his room, assumed Halfbie was a hooker and addressed them as such.

Halfbie quickly jumped into the role, playing the part and ordering Terence onto the bed with a blindfold and handcuffs. Terence complied, and once unable to move, Halfbie rushed to the wardrobe, grabbed a robe, and threw it over the dress. On their way out, they grabbed a magic item for good measure and left the room. They ran back down the stairs and out of the building as they fiddled with the fastenings of the robe they stole.

Back in front of the palace, the rest of the party was split on what they should do. On one hand, they were worried about leaving Halfbie alone, but they also needed to investigate Greg and his ability to predict Denloa's death. If they learned more about how the prophetic bread was made, they could identify the killer.

Mordecai decided it was best for them to investigate Greg's bakery, as they could disguise themselves and infiltrate it while Drache and Viktor began the search for Halfbie.) (x::Mordecai made their way to the bakery and asked the cashier if the bakery had any job openings. The worker had no idea and grabbed the manager, who reluctantly said that Mordecai could work for them for 2 copper a day. They were then told to purchase the gregs uniform and apron, which would cost 10 gold. Mordecai asked to pay it out of the wages, which the manager accepted, explaining that they wouldn't be paid for a few years. Mordecai made a mental note to look into making employment laws before inducing themselves as Greg.

Manager Greg said that Mordecai was absolutely not allowed to use that name and would now be called 'Paul'. Mordecai tried to brush past the manager's rudeness and asked whether they needed any help in the kitchens. Manager Greg instantly looked appalled at the suggestion and claimed that only Gregs could gain entry into the kitchen. Mordecai tried to claim theirname was Mordecai but the manager denided Mordecai's claim and insisted their name was Paul.

After arguing for some time, Mordecai could tell they weren't getting anywhere with this manager, so they decided to step out and return in a health inspector's uniform. Walking in, they announced themselves as Inspector Greg. Manager Greg said this was impossible, that they were now called Dave, and that they would not allow anyone to inspect the kitchens.

Mordecai tried to convince them to allow the inspection and to focus on the kitchen ovens. Manager Greg clicked his fingers and called for Maintenance Greg, who explained that the oven was clean and working well, and that there were definitely no rats anywhere.

Their conversation was momentarily broken up by Manager Greg asking if anyone had seen Paul, as they had seemed to disappear. Mordecai explained that they had seen a disgruntled worked leave the shop before they came in, but they seemed to have been killed in the streets. The manager proceeded to scream 'NOOOOOO!!' in a dramatic fashion before realising he was more upset about losing the apron.

After some time, the manager and maintenance Greg clearly tried to distract and delay Mordecai from gaining entry to the kitchens; eventually, Chef Greg, an Inchling, was brought out to talk to Mordecai. After getting absolutely nowhere with the chef, Mordecai cast Detect Thoughts on them.

Mordecai said the word Denola just loudly enough for the chef to hear and probed deep into his mind, so deep that they actually began viewing the chef's memories from the first person. Mordecai watched in horror as the chef found Denola in the streets early in the morning, jumped up, and plunged a knife into the woman's skull. Her body hit the floor hard as the chef began producing the rest of the wounds the party found on her body the next day.

In the real world, all the gregs suddenly became gravely serious after hearing Mordecai mention Denola's name. They exchanged a glance before Manaer Greg said, "On second thought, you can have a look at the oven... you can get a very close look at it..."

The three then began to surround Mordecai menacingly before they could get any closer, Mordecai cast Dimensional Door to make their escape quickly.

While Mordecai was inside the bakery, Drache, Viktor and Cas found a small, comfortable spot for them to all sit down. After a vicious coughing fit from Cas, Viktor suggested he could take a look at her and see if he could help. Cas instantly refused the offer, proudly stating that she was Case, Bringer of Perfect.

Viktor tried to explain that there was something obviously wrong with her, and that he might be able to cure it or at least find a way to make the symptoms less painful for her. She refused, simply stating that her best friend said this would happen and that she would not need the doctor's help.

After some prodding, she refused to tell either of them who her best friend was but at least let Viktor take a look. After a short examination, Viktor confirmed his suspicion: Cas was slowly dying due to a lack of an immune system.

Viktor tried casting a few spells that he thought might help, but nothing happened, as far as he could tell; what he was capable of doing was but a drop in the bucket compared to the problems Cas and the New Gods were dealing with.

Viktor, more to himself than anything, wondered aloud if taking her to one of the towers could help, since they had a very anti-God magic field, potentially having them near that could lessen some of the symptoms and give them some extra time to figure out a more permanently solution.

Suddenly, Myst appeared beside them and said the plan could work. Viktor and Drache jumped out of their skin. "AH! Myst i did not see you there!" voiced Viktor as he tried to recover the dignity he lost letting out such a girlish scream.

"Oh yes, we've grown up quite a bit since your guys started ignoring us!", said Myst) (x::The two tried to explain what had happened, but Myst would not hear it. They soon switched the subject and asked if they had been up to much. She explained that she had actually been making a lot of money by challenging people in bars to drinking games. She always won because no one expected a small girl to outdrink a seasoned drinker.

They both agreed that this was actually quite smart before getting back on topic and asking whether Myst could teleport them to Whitespire. She scoffed as she looked toward Whitespire; for a moment, the world around them seemed to stretch and warp, as if Myst were pulling the area around their destination toward them.

After a round of praise from Drache and Viktor, the group started moving closer to the tower, with Viktor instructing Myst to let them knew of they felt any different as they got closer. After a few moments of walking, Myst stopped midstep, their face a mixture of fear, confusion, and pain.

"It's... says...it... hurts," said Myst, each word seeming a challenge to say. "I can...hear him." Her face was in floods of tears as each step closer seemed to make her share in the pain more.) (x::Drache and Viktor were at her side in a moment, supporting her as she looked like she would fall apart any moment now. A panicked Viktor asked what she was talking about, but she looked up and raised a shaky hand to the tower looming above them. She vomited as the pain became so great, and Viktor became afraid that she might pass out from the stress.

Gripping their arms like her life depended on it, she said, "Sorry, Drache, Sorry Viktor, I just have to do it", but before the two could ask what was happening, she disappeared from their arms. They whiped their heads around wildly before Drache saw her. She was in the air near the tower, floating in a way that she looked as if she was standing on solid ground. They shouted for her to come back, but their words either did not reach her or fell on deaf ears.

She raised her fist and punched the tower; for a moment, nothing happened, then the shockwave reached them, and suddenly the impact hit with a deafening wave of pressure, leaving a huge crack in the once flawless white stone that made up the tower. The crack then began to spread like a virus, engulfing the whole tower. No one dared move a muscle; you could hear a pin drop in the middle of the market square.

Then the tower gave up its struggle to stay together, and it fell.

The majority of the piece fell in one go, leaving behind a massive black hole, which was then retracted back into the bowels of the earth from which it came.

There were a few moments of shock that gripped Drache and Viktor before the world around them seemed to catch up as the citizens began screaming fear and pain, desperate to know if their loved ones had survived the collapse. The two did not move to help as their gaze was still transfixed on the space where Myst was before the tower fell. She was no longer there.

Viktor turned to Drache, as he shouted, more from confuse than rage, "Tell me, what that tentacle in the middle town doing there?!?!"

"I thought you said the towers would block the gods?"

"Yes, but i dint expect the young lady to punch the fucking tower down!!" said Viktor, "Now what do we do, walk back to Blackwall?!"

"Victor, how are we going to explain this to Cas when we get back?!" Drache said, emotion choking the sentence out of him, "Now she's never gonna believe us when we say we're safe"

Their conversions were interrupted when a blue portal opened up in front of them. Simultaneously, blue portals opened in front of Mordecai and Halfbie, who, at the time, was running out of the mages guild, the black mini dress still visible under the buttons of their robe as they hurriedly buttoned them up.

Before they could even comprehend her, the portals, the world slowed to a stop as a voice crashed like a wave through their minds. It was Terathera.

If asked, none of them could give an accurate description of what was happening to their vision; one would put it this way, as if the ghost of the other party members were present, so they could see and interact with each other without physically being together.

-----------Tereathera QUOTE HERE--------

"Why is Halfbie wearing a dress" wondered Mordecai.

As questions began tumbling from everyone's mouths, a 6th person appeared next to Drache; it was Korrigan

"Oh, hi Drache, how are you?" Korrigan's voice sounded like he was imulantioous holding back laughter and very confused.

"Why are you here, Kerrigan?" asked Drache, "though you were just chilling in my head"

"Well, none of you tried to talk to me after I went", Kerrigan said. "What the fuck was I supposed to? You left me there with Lorwun; you know how she gets."

"I tried to talk to you once," Drache countered, "But you turned me insane for a bit.") (x:: "Mind your turn, Drache", Kerrigan said, his voice in a sing-song, but the words were laced with venom.

Mordecai cut into the conversation and asked what the hell happened and why Terethra can talk to the party now. Drache relayed the sequence of events that led them to Whitespire. Mordecai was very quiet for a moment before comment of bad the situation was. Kerrigan happily explained that the tower's fall has made Lorwyn extremely happy, which, in fact, did not cheer any of them up.

"Do not fear, she's not alone; no harm shall reach her, nor shall harm reach her when she rests within my ancient palms," said Terathera. His voice was warm and soothing like a summaries breeze.

Kerrigan turned to Viktor and pointed a dirty, long fingernail at him, demanding to know who he was, exclaiming that the party must have replaced him. Halfbie explained that they did not replace him; they were in desperatedesperate need of a doctor, and Viktor was happy to join them temporarilytemporarily. Eventually, Kerrigan calmed down and exclaimed how fun it was to watch the party on their adventures, even though he wished he could join them.

Everyone exclaimed how much they missed Korrigan before Halfbie went quiet and asked if he had been watching everything. With a smile, Kerrigan nodded, and halfbie couldn't help but wonder how much Kerrigan had actually seen.

------TERATHERA QUOTE HERE-------

Halfbie asked if they were, and if Terathera was doing alright

------TERATHERA QUOTE HERE-------

Eventually Korrigan disappeared, and the party were left to walk through the blue portals in front of them. Walking through Halfbie, Halfbie assumed they would see AlfredAlfred on the other side, but the portal led them to the councillors' chambers in the black tower.

Once all of the party was back together, they suddenly heard a booming voice ring out in their heads. It was the voice of Haldir. Viktor introduced himself, and Haldir returned the greeting.

"What do you need from us, sir?" asked Drache.

"I am dying", Haldir said bluntly, "Or at least I have been dying for the last 5000 years"

"Ah, so not so bad, probably don't even need ot go to the doctors", Halfbie said sarcastically.

"My body cannot handle it anymore..." Haldir said, letting out a weary sigh" Xekai warned me that tlling your directly was a bad idea, but I wanted to give you all the choice. I'd even take some one of the eggs if you don't want to give an alive one"

The party all seemed incredibly hesitant to make a decision, with Mordecai eventually asking why Haldir was even asking permission

"You, I hold up more than you know. I need that body if we're going to continue operating as we do now. Just give me one of the eggs. Make it hatch, and I will take whatever comes out."

"You want us to take away a life..." Viktor said.

"Hmm yes." Haldire said, his voice tripping with exasperation, "You know what? You all are too emotional about this kind of thing. I need someone who will be... objective"

The party all looked confused before a complex magic circle appeared, engulfing the room before shrinking to centre on a spot next to Halfbie. In the area of the circle, chenris slowly phased into view. This body was slightly translucent as he sat in mid-air reading a book. It took a moment before he noticed he was visible; upon realising, he snapped his book shut. removed his reading glasses with a loud and long sigh.

"How may I help you, Dr Heleyarus?" Said Chenris.

"Let's cut to the chase", Haldir said matter-of-factly. "I need one of the new god's bodies to renew my abilities...please"

"What makes you so sure you can handle the power associated with those bodies?" said Chenris; his gaze was impenetrable, looking at his old headmaster.

"You, of all people, should know the power I am capable of wielding and have already wielded for thousands of years."

"Oh, I am well aware, but we're talking about the power of a demigod here."

"I only need the body"

"As you must be aware, I am not in the business of making uninformed decisions. Will you give me the research notes?") (x:: "Of course, I will give you the notes. i won't be a moment."

"So if we gave you this body, would it save a lot of lives or just enrich you?" asked Viktor.

"Xekai told me to answer in a very particular way, so I cannot explain much further."

"What's the point in that? Why keep us in the dark about why we need this body? Xekai's refusal to elaborate keeps putting us in difficult situations."

"i wont go against you if you're worried about that", dodged Haldir, "if you say no, I will leave, but I can guarantee the worst-case scenario will occur.

Still suspended in mid-air, Chenris now held a new book, intently reading it. Speaking to himself out loud as his eyes flicked across the pages. "A 53.295% chance of success... essentially a coin flip... Interesting. Well i have alway been a man of science," said chenris, his eyes finally lifting from the pages. He reached out his hand and moved towards his pocket. However, as he did so, Halfbie in the real world did the same, his hand reaching for one of the eggs. "Here you are", he said. Halfbie's arms trembled as if they were trying to fight the movement.

"No, no, i cant do it", said Haldir. "Please pass them to the man who can do it," he said, gesturing to Drache.

"You want me to raise his egg and immediately slaughter it with no justification. NO, not happening, bud."

"For justification, when they return we will all be fucked if you don't kill them anyway", said Haldir, "another justification is that your dear friend said it was the best course of action."

All eyes fell on chenris "unfortunately, the the old headmaster is correct. Without this body, society would suffer greatly, and a great many lives could be lost... Would you be a dear and do it or us?

"You ask me like I have a choice..." said Drache, defeated.

"You can of course do it of your own free will..." said chenris, his hands already beginning the cast of a spell "You could not."

"i hate this" muttered Mordecai.

"That's a good way of thinking about it, chenris, thank you for your valuable input"

Chenris didn't respond beyond a click of his tongue, annoyed.

Viktor put a reassuring hand on Drache, casting Protection from good and evil, giving Drache the ability to resist Chenris using magic to force Drache to act.

"You always have the choice, Drache. As I said, I am not an evil man. I've only come to the party with this because I have no other options. If you say no, I'll leave you alone.

"Unfortunately, without this body, the world will become much more difficult to live in when he is gone." Chenris reluctantly explained.

"I'm glad you finally understand my worth, chenris"

"Just because I never won aasint in a game of magical chess doesn't mean i cannoned heed a good argument"

"Haha, and you never will beat me, boy"

"One day Haldir, one day I will win against you"

"Oh, I expect you will, my boy, but I don't think it'll work as you intend it to. i read your thesis"

"We just have different ideas of what success looks like"

"Success looks like convincing a party to give me a new body and not having to use force"

"Funny how things work out", Chenris Tallfellow ‡ said, his words were like ice.

"Like being stuck as a little man inside the head of an elf. Now I do believe we are done here, Mr Tallfellow," said Haldir, as he clicked his fingers, stopping the manifesting spell, and chenris disappeared.

With him gone, all eyes returned to Drache. As he nodded solemnly and grabbed the egg, He then took a quick swing at the potion they found in the golden fort.) (x::When Drache opened his eyes, he was on the top of the mountains again. In front of him was a large golden dragon, but he was covered in scars and scales that fell off with every movement. He greeted Drache exclaiming that he had returned and was ready to fulfil his plan.

The dragon took the egg and, just as before, it began to hatch and grow into a small humanoid rapidly before the dragon sent Drache back to the Blackwall. Drache blinked as he was back in the tower with a small child in his arms.) (x::He tried to apologise, but the words got stuck in his throat, and all he could manage was a weak "sorry"

In his head, Drache heard Haldir urge him to kill the child. Drache went to grab his weapon, but his arms did not have the strength to lift it. Mordecai and Viktor stepped in, but as they saw the boy look at them, they hesitated, unable to fully commit. Drache asked if Haldir would do it, but he said it was impossible from where he was, and he thought it would be more poetic if Drache was the one to do it. Mordecai took a deep breath as they raised their wand and began to chant a spell

"This is taking too long", said Chenris through Halfbie's body, and without hesitation, he raised his hand and fired a magic missile, shooting a clean hole through the boy's temple, killing them quickly and painlessly.

"Hmmmm, that wasn't a move I was expecting", said Haldir. His voice was filled with amusement rather than confusion.

"You said it yourself, I am a rational scientist", replied Chenris bluntly before returning control to Halfbie.

Viktor healed the wound out of respect for the boy before stepping back. Haldir then warned everyone that the portal would be quite large, so they should make room. After making space, a large blue portal opened around the body. The boy slowly sank into the portal, completely disappearing without a trace.

Silence shouted in the great hall as all eyes were fixated on the spot where the boy used to be.
