| Session 65 | Drache explained that while Mordecai was investigating Greggs, they decided to go to Whitespire as Viktor thought that the barrier created by the towers might help the new gods with their condition. It, in fact, didn't do that and led to Myst having a mental breakdown and them dying in the process of helping an ancient god that party had neglected to mention was their friend. |
| Session 64 | Halfbie, who had been watching the slight from the rest of the party, began having doubts that staying with them would be a good idea. From their perspective, Halfbie had woken up to a group of strangers who claimed that they were his party, but they were pretty sure this wasn't true. When the rest of the group was talking to Denola and explaining the prophetic bread to her, Halfbie took the opportunity and pointed at the Greg's Bakery and shouted, "What are they doing?" before using their Misty Step ability to appear near a street corner before dashing around. When the party returned their gaze to Halfbie, they had disappeared. |
| Session 64 | Back in front of the palace, the rest of the party was split on what they should do. On one hand, they were worried about leaving Halfbie alone, but they also needed to investigate Greg and his ability to predict Denloa's death. If they learned more about how the prophetic bread was made, they could identify the killer. |
| Session 64 | Mordecai decided it was best for them to investigate Greg's bakery, as they could disguise themselves and infiltrate it while Drache and Viktor began the search for Halfbie. |
| Session 64 | Mordecai made their way to the bakery and asked the cashier if the bakery had any job openings. The worker had no idea and grabbed the manager, who reluctantly said that Mordecai could work for them for 2 copper a day. They were then told to purchase the gregs uniform and apron, which would cost 10 gold. Mordecai asked to pay it out of the wages, which the manager accepted, explaining that they wouldn't be paid for a few years. Mordecai made a mental note to look into making employment laws before inducing themselves as Greg. |
| Session 64 | Manager Greg said that Mordecai was absolutely not allowed to use that name and would now be called 'Paul'. Mordecai tried to brush past the manager's rudeness and asked whether they needed any help in the kitchens. Manager Greg instantly looked appalled at the suggestion and claimed that only Gregs could gain entry into the kitchen. Mordecai tried to claim theirname was Mordecai but the manager denided Mordecai's claim and insisted their name was Paul. |
| Session 64 | After arguing for some time, Mordecai could tell they weren't getting anywhere with this manager, so they decided to step out and return in a health inspector's uniform. Walking in, they announced themselves as Inspector Greg. Manager Greg said this was impossible, that they were now called Dave, and that they would not allow anyone to inspect the kitchens. |
| Session 64 | Mordecai tried to convince them to allow the inspection and to focus on the kitchen ovens. Manager Greg clicked his fingers and called for Maintenance Greg, who explained that the oven was clean and working well, and that there were definitely no rats anywhere. |
| Session 64 | Their conversation was momentarily broken up by Manager Greg asking if anyone had seen Paul, as they had seemed to disappear. Mordecai explained that they had seen a disgruntled worked leave the shop before they came in, but they seemed to have been killed in the streets. The manager proceeded to scream 'NOOOOOO!!' in a dramatic fashion before realising he was more upset about losing the apron. |
| Session 64 | After some time, the manager and maintenance Greg clearly tried to distract and delay Mordecai from gaining entry to the kitchens; eventually, Chef Greg, an Inchling, was brought out to talk to Mordecai. After getting absolutely nowhere with the chef, Mordecai cast Detect Thoughts on them. |
| Session 64 | In the real world, all the gregs suddenly became gravely serious after hearing Mordecai mention Denola's name. They exchanged a glance before Manaer Greg said, "On second thought, you can have a look at the oven... you can get a very close look at it..." |
| Session 63 | The shop was called Greg's Bakery, so they decided to have a look and see what all the fuss was about. The bakery seemed to specialise in various savoury baked goods, including cylindrical ground pork wrapped in pastry and squared pockets stuffed with meat and gravy. However, what caught everyone's attention was the bakery's offering of 'Prophetic bread'. The group decided that they might as well try it, especially since they had enough gold to last them a while. |
